TL;DR: An RWA pairing changes the asset used to price and trade a token. It does not automatically make that token asset-backed or give holders stock ownership.

What is the pairing asset?
In a trading pair, one asset is quoted in units of another. According to pons v2’s custom-pair documentation, approved assets can replace ETH as a launch’s quote asset, including tokenized stocks. Purchases, sale proceeds and creator payouts use the chosen asset; the graduated pool retains that pairing.
Follow two prices, not just one
Here is a fictional example, not an available token or pair. Suppose PIE costs 0.01 STOCKTOKEN and STOCKTOKEN is worth $100. PIE’s implied price is $1.
- If PIE stays at 0.01 STOCKTOKEN but STOCKTOKEN falls to $80, PIE’s implied price falls to $0.80.
- If PIE rises to 0.012 STOCKTOKEN while STOCKTOKEN falls to $80, PIE is worth $0.96. It gained against its pair but lost against dollars.
The arithmetic is simply the quoted ratio multiplied by the pairing asset’s dollar price. It excludes fees and the effect of your order on execution.
Paired, backed, collateralized: different questions
Paired describes a market. Backed requires evidence about reserves and the rights attached to them. Collateralized describes assets securing an obligation. None is interchangeable with a promise to pay dividends.
Creator trading-fee income also differs from holder income. If a project advertises rewards, find the separate rules identifying recipients, funding, eligibility and claim conditions. A token name containing “RWA” does not establish any of those arrangements.

Identify both contracts, understand the quote asset’s issuer terms, and preview what a sale returns. Read our stock-token explanation for the ownership and eligibility distinction. Not from pairing alone. Company ownership would require a separate, legally supported entitlement.
