What Is pons? A Beginner’s Guide to the Launchpad

2 min read Content updated

TL;DR: pons is a token launch protocol on Robinhood Chain. Learn the launch stages before interpreting a token’s graduation or price chart.

What a launchpad does

A launchpad organizes how a new token is created and first traded. It can standardize that process without establishing that the project has useful products, a trustworthy team or sustainable demand.

The pons v2 documentation describes initial trading on a bonding curve followed by graduation into a Uniswap v4 pool with permanently locked liquidity. Your own wallet signs transactions.

Curve, graduation, pool

For orientation, imagine a token dispenser whose quote changes with buying and selling. That is a simplified way to understand curve pricing; it is not a promise that any order can execute at the last displayed price.

Graduation is a change in trading stage. Treat it as an operational milestone. You still need to assess the token, the market and the quote presented for your transaction.

Older launches can behave differently. The v1 documentation describes WETH-paired pools from creation. Identify the version of the actual token rather than combining instructions from different versions. The project also publishes its contract repository.

Three questions before you explore

  1. Which exact token address am I looking at?
  2. What asset would I spend and receive?
  3. What evidence supports the project’s claims beyond its trading activity?

A copied name can look convincing. Start from a project’s independently verified links and compare the full address. Do not substitute a matching logo or ticker for that check.

Frequently asked questions

Does locked liquidity guarantee an exit price?

No. Funds remaining in a pool do not promise that a particular sale will return the amount you expect. Size, available liquidity and demand still matter.

Is this a trading recommendation?

No. It is an explanation of a launch mechanism. Tokens can lose all value, and access to an interface may be restricted.
